”My curiosity and passion for discovering new places, and connecting with the local nature and people inspire my photography”.
CARLOS DOMÍNGUEZ
Carlos Domínguez was born in Mexico City in 1991, he is a freelance wild life photographer and visual artist.
After studying Graphic Design at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) he spent time in Oaxaca and Chiapas studying indigenous history and culture.
Later, he moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina to pursue photography full time, here his work was based around landscapes and the contrast between the natural and the built environment.
Carlos then spent six years in Brazil, first studying Portugese language and documenting wildlife, especially birds, and landscapes. Carlos was then awarded access to travel to some of the remote indigenous communities around the country by the Brazilian government's Fundação Nacional do Índio (FUNAI). Here he documented the rich culture and traditions of Kariri-Xokó people of Sergipe state and the Xakriabá people of Minas Gerais. His work was recognised in exhibition spaces around Brasilia and in the prestigious Brasilia International Photo Show international competition.
After the devistating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on Brazil Carlos relocated back to his beloved Mexico. He is now based in the beautiful town of Izamal, in the Yucatán Peninsula where he continues his work as a photographer and visual artist.
Carlos is recognized for describing and portraying people, animals, plants, and natural and cultural settings. Exploring the connection between humankind and nature.
